| Name of musician |
What you would like to be credited as. You need a “unique username”, so please check that your name hasn’t already been used. If your name is John Smith and another John Smith has already submitted a file, please call yourself JohnSmithA (B, C…) and stick to this name for any further submissions. |
| Submission number |
Your first submitted file should be called 01. Add 1 to this number for each subsequent submission (02, 03…). When this is added to a unique name, each piece will have a unique code. |
| Piece being responded to |
The name of the musician who submitted the file you are playing along with and the submission number. Basically, the unique code of the piece you are responding to. |
| Response type |
Forward development – “FD” Sideway development – “SD” Diagonal development – “DD”
(In a scenario where you are making an SD, but a reverb tail or “long last chord” means that your file extends slightly beyond the end of the file being responded to, please call it “SD” and not “DD”. Use “DD” only for true developments forward in time.) |
| Sync point |
Omit this if your file starts (exactly!) in sync with the beginning of the file being responded to. If your file starts somewhere in the middle of the file being responded to, please insert this offset as a whole number of seconds, even if this means that you have to insert silence at the beginning of your file to make it a whole number. Some of the files I record myself may not sync up properly until I am able to access a workstation with a sequencing programme. |
| .mp3 |
Please convert your files to 256 kbps mp3 before submission.
If you just want to submit an SD or DD and this confuses you a lot, then don't worry, I'll deal with it for you. Just let me know the sync point!
